Read about the remake of the classic Udat case.
Project Ione
Back in 2005 a SilverStone LC-17 was delivered to become my new and shiny HTPC. The front bezel was made out of 3-5mm anodized aluminium but the rest of the case was simply painted steel.
The first task was to send off the front bezel to have 112 2mm holes watercut. The picture above is how it looked like in it's new perforated state.
Each hole had a 2mm clear acrylic rod installed and they do look pretty spectacular with macro mode and flash.
On the back of the bezel is another perforated piece, some laser cut black acrylic to hold the other end of the acrylic rods in place and act as a mounting plate for an MDVA (an audio spectrum analyzer I used to manufacture and sell).
This little flashback will be cut a bit short as I didn't document the work very well. So as you can guess what you see here is the finished case that served me well as an HTPC for two years until it was replaced by a combined fileserver/HTPC.
Two years ago I got a Lian-Li PC B25 to use for my main workstation. It is one of the smaller mid-atx cases that still can be fully populated and in it's default configuration it can even fit 5 hard drives. However after the latest upgrade it has moved from 5 hard drives to just a single 2.5" SSD.
