It is time to get on with project Ione so first of this to salvage the bits I need from the old LC-17 case.

Here we have an engineering version of the MDVA, for example the micro controller isn't surface mounted and the normal Molex power connector is missing.

It is also the only blue MDVA ever made.

First step was to drill holes for the buttons and after that the chopping with the hacksaw started.

The watercut section is almost completely de-SilverStonised. After cutting over half a meter of 3-5mm thick aluminium it was time to take a break for the day.

After removing the four screws holding the blue ring assembly in place it was quickly dispatched. After a lot of measuring and aligning 4 blobs of JB Weld epoxy was added at each corner.

Lots of tape was used to make sure the final alignment actually became final.

Some 12h later and the new assembly can be seen in its full glory.
